Mr. Matson is a Director and Senior Equity Analyst at Wells Fargo Securities covering the Medical Technology/Devices sector. He joined the firm in 2004 as an associate analyst and has more than eight years of industry and sell-side medical device experience. He currently covers 16 medical device companies including 11 orthopedics and spine companies.
He started at Stryker as a design engineer; and returned to Stryker after business school and worked in marketing as a product manager on a knee-implant product line. He was ranked No. 4 in the Medical Equipment and Supplies industry in The Wall Street Journal’s 2006 Best on the Street Stock Picking survey and No. 2 stock picker in the Health Care Equipment and Supplies industry in the Financial Times’ 2007 World’s Top Analysts report. Mr. Matson earned a BS in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA with a health care concentration from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business and is a CFA charterholder. He is also a U.S. patent holder for a medical device invention (U.S. patent #6,919,914).
